Minnie ears have become my latest obsession. I used to not be able to wear them because headbands of any kind would give me the WORST headache. Even the “most comfortable” headbands gave me a headache (because there for a time in my life, literally every little thing gave me a headache… I had a full on migraine 3-4 days during the week every single week).

I have recovered from that very dark time in my life, and I am now growing my collection of Minnie ears, something I’ve wanted to do my entire life.

Currently, my personal collection is small. I own 4 pairs of ears, but my sister has a pair that I sometimes take with me on trips.

My rose gold ears are official Disney park ears.

I have two pairs from BibbidiBobbidiBrooke– these gold with the black polkadot bow ears, and these super fun patriotic summer ears.

My last pair of ears are these white eyelet ears from Be Ear Guest.

These millennial pink ears belong to my sister Allie, and they are official Disney park ears.

And for good measure, I’m gonna throw in these classic Minnie ears that Allie got at Party City.

I’m gonna start off by saying that I love all four of the Minnie ears that I own. The rose gold were my first ears ever, and I got them during the time when they were FLYING off the shelves. I happened to walk into a store in Hollywood Studios as a cast member was bringing them out, and she didn’t even put them on the racks before they were sold out. People were buying. those. things. up. So they’re my lucky ears 🙂

However, as far as comfort goes, all three of my homemade ears definitely rank higher than the official park ears! And according to Allie, the ears she got at Party City are also waaaay more comfortable than the park ears. They’re cheaper, too!

What I love about the ears I’ve gotten from small shops is that you know that when you buy them, you’re supporting a small business. You’re supporting a family. You’re supporting a dreamer, and I love that so very much.

The official park ears are very cute and stylish. There are so many options, something for every style and preference. You can get plain ears, themed ears, sparkly ears- anything you want!

However, the possibility with homemade ears is also endless. I’ve been able to find ears in literally every type of fabric I could imagine. I’ve seen the sparkle fabric, velvet fabric, prints, solids, you name it, someone has probably made ears for it.

Though I’ve currently only ordered from two small shops, I definitely plan on ordering from more. Both BibbidiBobbidiBrooke and Be Ear Guest have sent me amazing quality ears, with the maximum comfort level, and super cute styles. My BBB ears come personalized with my name on the inside of the band, which gives them such a sweet touch. I can tell from the three small shop ears I own, each one was made with so much care, quality, and detail.

If given the choice between ordering from a small shop or the official Disney shop, I’d choose a homemade small shop. They have the potential to be more expensive than official Disney ears, but it is worth it because you’re supporting an individual rather than a corporation. There is also the potential to get less expensive, but still top quality ears! You’ll just have to search around and find a shop that fits your personal style and budget needs.

If you have a favorite small ear shop, let me know so I can check them out! Or if you are a small ear shop owner, definitely let me know! I’d love to see your creations! I love supporting people! 🙂

xoxo,
H
